1/ Thanks Max. As you know, the current version of the SORP doesn’t mention diversity or equality once.
Any @ACFoundations members or other stakeholders who have suggestions for what should be included in the SORP on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion please let Max know.

@James_Fitz01 Hi James. Agree there are ways the SORP can increase reporting on DEI. As part of ACF’s role on the advisory committee to the SORP-making body, we will be feeding in all ideas that members have. It will be brilliant if members show the way by demonstrating this in their accounts
Lots of inspiration and information coming from yesterday’s Race to the Top conference. Check out #SectorBuzz hashtag
- we're either serious about using every possible lever for change on DEI in our sector or we're not serious about change at all. I'd like an answer please on this from @CFGtweets @ACFoundations @scvotweet

1/ Thanks @CivilSocietyUK & @DerekABard for today’s Race to the Top event. Inspiring (the contributions and questions) and frustrating (because we’ve said so much of this before and we’re having to say it again). And the key question is “What now?”

10/ And I said that people who look like me need to take responsibility for changing ourselves, our organisations, our networks and the system we’re part of - and that we sustain and benefit from -

8/ I talked about how the individuals in charge of our sector have failed to create meaningful change on DEI over the past 30 years – because we have a massive conflict of interest. It's why change on DEI is moving at the speed of white.
#SectorBuzz
6/ I talked about the need for our sector’s infrastructure & membership bodies to stop producing DEI toolkits & instead act together to change the norms & culture in our sector – & effectively develop a self-regulation framework on DEI (like we have for fundraising).

5/ some of the reasons we should enact DEI – and a longer list of reasons why we don’t. The second list is the one we have to focus on to create real change:

4/ Other speakers mentioned how diversity is a good thing because it can add to organisations’ efficiency & effectiveness. As a values based sector, we shouldn’t need such reasons – but if it helps you move the argument forward in your organisation here are

3/ During the morning some people asked for resources, information and organisations to help move Diversity, Equity and Inclusion forward in their organisations. Here’s a list (suggestions for additions welcome):

Gutted I left my phone at home so couldn't join in with #sectorbuzz. Great Race to the Top conference about diversity (or otherwise) in charity sector. Learnt loads, listened loads, lots to process. Brace for lots of retweets of other people's commentary on so much good sense.
A really brilliant morning talking about the #racism in our country, and therefore in our #charity sector too. It stops talented people reach the top. It was inspiring, moving and uncomfortable. So glad I joined. I didn't ask any questions, as I decided to #stepback. #SectorBuzz

A number of allies asked about how they could donate to the campaign at Race to the Top earlier.
Resharing the link to our paypal, if you can donate something do send some £££ our way!

Thanks to everyone who said hi and engaged critically with the conversation today at Race to the Top.
To those who didn’t attend, particularly sector leaders, your absence was noted and spoke louder than any words.

Following the #RaceToTheTop #SectorBuzz with real interest for what we can learn for NCVO’s work on equity, diversity and inclusion. @LaiHarCheung and @AShewry looking forward to hearing more
What is it that gets people in the sector to want to do something? The emotional labour placed on people of colour. The ask of White people is to do the work, to learn about racism, and the systems of racism #RaceToTheTop @CivilSocietyUK
To have a good board, you need diversity of experience. This includes socioeconomic amount others. Trustees should be paid if they are below a certain income. ALSO- funders- always pay people to come speak at your events, round tables, advisory boards. #SectorBuzz
#SectorBuzz Question of whether trustees should be paid as community activist and leaders who are most qualified for the work?
