41/ Almost a month into ownership. We thought we'd be further along. In reality, there has only been 12 days it was worked on. Everything takes longer than expected. Its not our first build, but it is our first beyond the basics

37/ Day 12 Pt 1.
It felt like there was an awful lot of wasted time but still got bits done. No point trying to reinvent the wheel so we've followed where many other van builders have gone & installed(or at least mocked up for now) the @IKEA bed.

28/ Day 10 Pt 5:
ctd.. & took out a portion of a roof support for the big skylight to be fitted next week. Sound deadening was applied to the remaining side & roof panels. It was oddly satisfying removing the protective film on the Maxxfan!

25/ Day 10 Pt 2:
4 hrs of scraping, rubbing & wiping, its back to yesterday's step. The hole will be opened up a small bit, exposed metal painted & an attempt made to refit the fan PROPERLY🤞

23/ Day 9 Pt 4:
Catastrophe😱
Delighted turns into deflated😩
Maxxfan fitted & sealed but it's not right. It was only noticed when tidying up but the frame shifted back slightly when being bolted down so the rear is raised by a few mm & not sitting flush

22: Day 9 Pt 3:
Wooden frame bonded under the metal to give the screws something to bite into. Mastic tape and Sikaflex up top to sick and seal

20/ Day 9 - Pt 1.
SCARY DAY 😬
The day a hole is cut in the roof for the Maxx fan. The excuses have run out - time to bite the bullet 😱

18/ Day 8 Outake: it was like setting up a puppet show. Cardboard flopping, then buckling, tape falling off coz of the temp of the van. A comedy of errors 😬 We were in stitches 😆

16/
The cable that has been hanging down from the roof since Day 5 is a reversing camera.Wiring is on hold til we see where the roof vents & lights are going. You can also see the bare panels left where we will be cutting holes in the roof

15/ Day 8:
In theory it was supposed to be a day off from the van.Reality is that there's always something to do,so make the most of any chances you get.Roof has been thoroughly scrubbed ready for destruction next wk

Day 6 Part 4: It looks like it's turning into a spaceship now, but the work done at the start (which won't be seen) will have us cosy and insulated against cold and noise.

Day 6 Pt 3: Going overboard on the sound deadening of the rear arches. Worth it- the reduction in noise was apparent on a drive.Fine-tuning with a sander on Day 7 should have it done as the sander was @ home & not @ the workshop🥴

Day 6 Part 1: Measure SEVERAL times, cut once. This ply sheeting isn't cheap 😬

Day 5: Holes were to be cut in the roof but some of the stuff couldn't be gotten locally. It had to wait. The floor was started with 25×50mm battens & 25mm Xtratherm insulation board. It took 6+hrs & not even glued!

Day 4 part 1: Deconstruction nearing completion with headliner & overhead shelf now removed. Buried in one of the cracks was this Drifter. Best before April 2018 🤢

Day 3: After 7 hours work all remaining adhesive removed from the floor, factory side panel trims gone, walls wiped down & floor scrubbed.
Day 4 will be Hammerite time for all the holes left from previous flooring

Day 2:
How it started / How its going.
Ply lining on walls removed, bulkhead gone, ply floor also gone but it was a bit dark for a photo when done.
Day 3: To be thoroughly cleaning the floor & sorting the many holes

Collecting the bits for weeks that we **know** we will need, to spread the cost, buy leftovers from others, etc.
