Moral of the story: Although we sometimes tend to take rejections personally, resilience and confidence in the value of our research are key!

En mi casa dicen que soy muy listo, lo cual no es cierto. Lo que si soy es muy constante (para muestra una imagen).
A los que os estáis intentando abrir paso en investigación solo puedo deciros que "al final, todo saldrá bien, y si no sale bien es que aun no es el final"

I am excited to announce that I did not win the two fellowships I applied to this term. Both losses hurt but I feel no shame about losing out to qualified candidates. We talk a lot about our wins as academics, but we are shaped far more by how we react to our losses #shadowcv
I'm preparing an application and now realise that over the past 5 years I've submitted 12 grant applications: 2 were successful, 1 was cancelled (Covid) and 1 is under assessment. Failure is certainly central to #AcademicLife.
To more "success" in 2022 🎉

Add another one to the #ShadowCV - NSF rejection for a fun idea and great team that we just haven’t figured out how to stick the landing on yet. Time to go count cicadas, read the reviews later, and then try again...
Rough year for postdoc fellowships in our lab. 1 got Marie Curie to join and dropped it due to visa issues (long story, but Denmark did not make it easy for them), 3 others all rejected without feedback for great projects at different funders. Will keep at it. #ShadowCV
