In the icy depths of the North Atlantic, a female Greenland shark has been gliding through the dark for nearly 400 years. She was likely born in the early 1600s — long before electricity, cars, or even the idea of modern life. While empires rose and fell, while wars raged and technology transformed the world above, she kept moving silently through the cold. Slow, steady, and patient. Greenland sharks grow less than an inch a year, and their frigid environment gives them one of the longest lifespans of any creature on Earth. This one has witnessed the passing of centuries without ever leaving her deep, shadowed realm. Four hundred years later, she is still here. Still swimming. Still surviving. #OceanWonders #LongestLivingCreatures ~Weird Wonders and Facts
