A Silver-washed fritillary feeding on hemp-agrimony, along a woodland ride edge that we recently improved for butterfly habitat. The pinkish flowers are attractive to many insects and butterflies. 🦋

Lovely to catch up again with my favourite Butterfly the Silver Washed Fritilary at Mourne Park Kilkeel. The lighter yellowish coloured one at the end. They are both males but the yellow one is slightly older hense the washed out colouring. 🦋🧡💛

RSPB Garston Wood featured on @BBCSpringwatch tonight. It’s a great place to spot butterflies and moths. We saw Silver-washed Fritillary Valezina on a visit.
What have you seen at Garston Wood?

Make sure you take time to look down in the vegetation, as well as at the views out to sea at Berry Head. The species-rich grasslands are full of insects at this time of year.
