In #snowballsampling do researchers ever compensate participants when they share a contact that then participates in the study?

@ZainHashmiMD - First I asked people in my department and research advisors - Then I asked everyone I met with to suggest 2-3 people - I ultimately met one of my K mentors through my neighbor who is a Geologist, but had one of his Economics professor friends over #SnowballSampling 🤷🏼‍♀️

@AnglicanProject @FurtherMathsTut @CadburyCentre Because the term #SnowballSampling is a populist term we are happy to be descried thus. But in reality #RDS is a practical sampling method for hard to reach populations, beginning with a convenience/ opportunity sample, but aims to approximate a probability sample over time.

In terms of strategies to recruit and maintain research participation in individuals from hard-to-reach samples, Dr. Marisol Perez recommends #snowballsampling, where you incentivize participants to spread the word and recruit future participants!
