@keithalexander At ~£10million for 4,000tCO2/yr for a lifetime of say 25 years, that's £100 / tonCO2 sequestered (plus whatever opex is). Reducing emissions is certainly cheaper!
Everybody knows people in big cities drive less in daily life.
But did you know they have more emissions from *air travel*? [and yes, that's controlling for income, etc]. Why is that?

This morning, the London Metropolitan police pre-emptively arrested XR co-founder @gailbradbrook during a dawn raid. Under new UK laws, she faces up to 10 years jail. Watch her speak on police repression of non-violent protest, recorded just 2 months ago.

@pjacock@LEAFinLabs@UoBGreenLabs@JamesHuttonInst Hi, yes, I've been looking into this. It looks very appropriate to our labs and could integrate well into our ISO14001 environmental management system. I especially like that it devolves agency to lab managers and encourages reflection amongst users.
Very exciting! Glensaugh Research Farm @JamesHuttonInst is looking at becoming an incubator for new farm businesses. Possibly of interest to followers of @ecolandcoop @LandworkersUK. Info about role in link below. Info about Glensaugh here: https://t.co/L8iUSda8wX
Can't stop thinking about this. The UK Government have just published a report which puts a positive cultural spin *on the slave trade*
But sure, there's no institutional racism in Britain
#climatetwitter help! I'm trying to use the figures presented by @KevinClimate to @ScotClimateCA https://t.co/O9tjIwDmtR, but the maths doesn't add up. 10% reduction per year over 9 years is not -75% by 2030, whether you take it linearly (-90%) or exponentially (-61%).
An attempt by a fertiliser multinational to extend peat extraction in south-west Scotland has been unanimously rejected by a council on grounds it would contribute to climate change. https://t.co/ZXwskjhGnG
Judicial review I'm part of is starting now over Govt's failure to come clean on Covid contracts. £4 bn of public money is not accounted for. We want to know
❓what was it spent on
❓who got the contract
❓why did they get it
This is about public trust in Govt
@GoodLawProject
@cl_morton I wonder whether people with long commutes tend to buy diesel cars (with hybrids as an eco alternative) and people with shorter commutes tend to by petrol cars (with EVs as an eco alternative).
@PermaGoddess Try using tweetdeck. Completely official, legitimate, provided by twitter and completely ad-free. Not sure if that helps you, but just thought I'd mention it. https://t.co/nwVOEl5luX
New paper: 'Cash cows? Assembling low-carbon agriculture through green finance.' By considering how resources are assembled for "green" investment, I tackle the questions: where does green finance land? why there? and with what implications for climate mitigation? Key findings:
