The Trudeau Government rejects #SoberSecondThought and evidence as Justice Minister Lametti refuses most #SenCA Bill #C9 amendments (#JudgesAct disciplinary process revamp).
It’s clear the Liberal Government sees the Senate as nothing but a glorified rubber stamp.
So, given that my 2 major Bill #C9 amendments actually solve Justice Minister Lametti’s concerns, I hope he considers this + accepts these #SoberSecondThought amendments.
Otherwise, Trudeau Govt will show they treat their “Independent” Senate as a glorified rubber stamp.

One includes "laypersons" (ie not judges/lawyers) on each disciplinary process panel.
The other allows appeal to Federal Court of Appeal.

Bill #S4 was a Government Bill, studied and debated in the Senate and at Senate Legal Committee.
As #SoberSecondThought, I introduced an important amendment which would require criminal trials to be held in person, not by Zoom!

I was pleasantly surprised during the EA debate in the Senate. They (well, not all) really stepped up, and made me re-consider what I previously believed to be true about their "rubber-stamping." I believe they turned the EA around. #SoberSecondThought
