A German BMW driver reports Wednesday on linkedIn: "Software update BMW - simply via the app! Freeway A3, parking lot, 8 pm! Your car asks you if you want to renew the software! Sure! 20 minutes and then nothing works anymore! Not even locking was possible. BMW emergency service called at 8:30! At 9 pm the emergency service was there!" It's a shame that legacy automakers are unable to manage software and perform simple tasks like software updates reliably. It is even more embarrassing that they are not able to solve problems remotely, but have to tow the vehicles to the service centers.
