Read in #JMedChem a study from @SantosLabVT which shows that blockade of #S1P transport with orally bioavailable #Spns2 inhibitor recapitulates lymphopenia characteristic of Spns2 null mice. @VTChemDept https://t.co/3WqyCypDP3

Congrats to Daniel and @KDunnavant on their discovery of #S1P transporter #Spns2 inhibitor. Potent, orally bioavailable & leads to lymphopenia. Collaboration with Lynch lab (@uvapharmacology) & @Biochem_Anne. Let's drug this!🙌 @VTChemDept @VT_Science https://t.co/PEYLA9vH4m

Preprint work with Kevin Lynch @uvapharmacology. We developed #Spns2 inhibitors and showed efficacy in #MultipleSclerosis mouse model + no cardiac & auditory side effects. Biomarker=lymphopenia. Builds a case for drugging #Spns2. @VTChemDept @VT_Science https://t.co/NRDwzxN54A

#Cell: #Spns2 exports #S1P via facilitated diffusion. Moreover, Spns2 inhibitor 16d attenuates the transport activity by locking Spns2 in the inward-facing state. This provides a new perspective for us to develop advanced Spns2 inhibitors. https://t.co/CVHJtKARf7 #drugdiscovery
