It’s like a savvy GPS for navigating the cell atlas, remembering each twist and turn in their development by an algorithm of *higher-order lazy-teleported random walks with memory*. So, it minimizes missed exits or wrong turns during the journey toward the cell fate.
This savvy “memory walk” is holistically informed by multifaceted inputs e.g. time-series labels from temporal atlases, spatial layout of cells, their gene/feature similarity and RNA-velocity.
To visualize, #StaVia generates a comprehensive cartographic #AtlasView, which efficiently aligns the high-resolution single-cell embeddings and edge-bundled cluster graph to visually chart the predicted trajectories of entire atlases in a unified snapshot.

#StaVia can also study spatial omics 🗺️. It generates the gene-expression cluster graph, augmented with the info of cells’ spatial neighbors when establishing cluster connectivity. So, StaVia graph conveys both cells’ spatial “habitats” and gene-expression-based similarities of cell types.
It's like plotting friendships of a social network based on chats (gene expression) and neighborhood (spatial proximity). 🤝🗺️
Why useful? This spatial-aware cartography can facilitate hypothesis generation and identification of potentially interesting sites in a tissue where different cell types are colocalized and interact to yield location-specific functions.
