🚨BREAKING: ICE agents have shot and killed another person, this time in Biddeford, Maine. Witnesses say they heard 5–6 gunshots before realizing someone had been killed. Right now, the public knows very little about what actually happened. That alone should concern everyone. This is what happens when armed federal agents operate without meaningful accountability. Law enforcement protocols exist to prevent deadly encounters…not just to protect the public, but to protect officers from ending up in situations where they feel the need to use deadly force. That means clearly identifying themselves, using tactics that reduce confusion, and avoiding unnecessarily putting themselves in the path of a moving vehicle. Instead, ICE has repeatedly relied on masked agents, unmarked vehicles, and aggressive tactics that can leave people believing they’re being robbed, or kidnapped by criminals. Put yourself in that situation. A group of armed, masked men, in unmarked vehicles, suddenly surrounds your car, while often hitting you. You don’t know who they are. You don’t know what they want. Your first instinct is to get away… That is a human reaction… It should not a death sentence. Until ICE is held accountable for dangerous tactics, that unnecessarily escalate encounters, we’re going to keep seeing the same story repeated… Another shooting, another death, and another DHS statement lying about what happened.
