The final tunnel boring machine, Karen, has started its drive towards #Euston β the last of 11 machines on project π.
Named after one of the UK's first female train drivers, this is the final tunnel bore on the 140-mile railway between central London and the West Midlandsπ.
To mark the milestone, two female train drivers from @AvantiWestCoast were invited onto the machine to drive it alongside the engineers working on the project.

This week we'd like to share these fantastic photos of our Colne Valley Viaduct π·π.
This viaduct became the UKβs longest rail bridge when we completed its deck in September 2024. The 2.1-mile-long (3.4-km) gently curving structure, to the northwest of London, and will carry HS2 trains travelling up to 200mph.

This location will become HS2's operational hub - the nerve centre where our trains will be monitored and maintained around the clock. The site will house our train depot and Network Integrated Control Centre, connecting directly to the tunnels our teams have just finished building.
