Determined, powerful Betty Brown, the oldest surviving member of the #SubPostmaster #PostOfficeScandal on @BBCBreakfast
Betty has refused all low @GOVUK offers after her husbands & her life was ruined by the @PostOffice management.
He died in hospital not knowing any peace.

@PhilipS38187758 @robert_legge @Conservatives @ConHome @ConsPost Ed Davey is a wet fart in a suit.
As any #subpostmaster would kno.
When the deaths mount up will this be a bigger scandal that #GrenfellTower or the #Subpostmaster scandal?
Will His Majesty the King step in & hold his Government in contempt of Parliament & demand @Keir_Starmer resignation ?

@RoyalFamily
So Labour did NOT do a Impact Assessment on removing the Winter Fuel Allowance from OAPs.
Starmer and Co couldn't give two hoots for pensioners, the 4000 they were told would die only encouraged the vote knowing billions would be saved for their bosses.
#Davey has launched the #LibDem yellow peril campaign: the 'unfair deal' particularly if you happen to be a #subpostmaster.

Just the shamelessness of the #EntitledClass
If you take the bonuses, take (personal) responsibility!
If you can bankrupt a #Subpostmaster, why shouldn't you be bankrupted?

@EdwardJDavey And yet you still couldn't be bothered to meet with a #subpostmaster. Care to tell us what you're hiding... what those legal payments were really for and why you haven't declared any conflict of interest Ed #Davey? Even Jeremy Hunt managed a letter!!
@joerichlaw @Jeremy_Hunt Well blow me down, Hunt did something useful!
Brings into greater relief the appalling disinterest of Ed Davey, #LibDem Leader, & relevant MInister who refused to meet a #subpostmaster.
#Davey has to answer questions about conflict of interest & payments received.
This one is at the top of the list for going to jail imo

@PostOffInquiry Post Office Inquiry :- Brand reputation was priority after suicide
The Post Office’s first reaction to the suicide of a sub-postmaster it accused of stealing was to hire a media lawyer to protect its “brand reputation”, the inquiry into the Horizon IT scandal was told.
Angela van den Bogerd, a former Post Office executive, was presented with emails sent to her and the organisation’s communications team following the death of Martin Griffiths, a sub-postmaster who was accused of stealing £100,000. Griffiths had run his branch in Great Sutton, Cheshire, for 14 years before shortfalls appeared in 2009.
Griffiths and his elderly parents had given their life savings to the Post Office to cover the shortfalls, and he had been fined £7,000 after his branch was violently robbed in May 2013.
The discrepancies were in fact caused by errors in the Horizon IT system, but the stress of the accusations led him to kill himself in 2013 at the age of 59.
The correspondence shows that Mark Davies, the head of Post Office communications at the time, reacted to news of Griffiths’s suicide attempt by asking if a specialist media lawyer could be arranged if “urgent” advice was needed. Griffiths was still alive at the time, but “dangerously ill” in hospital.
Jason Beer KC, lead counsel to the inquiry, said the organisation’s first priority had been its “brand reputation”, asking Van den Bogerd: “So the immediate reaction, you agree, was not: ‘Is Martin Griffiths all right, what about his health?’ was it?”
“Not at this point in the email chain, no,” Van den Bogerd replied.
“The immediate reaction was not what can we, the Post Office, do to help this man’s family, was it?” Beer asked.
“Not at this point,” Van den Bogerd repeated.
Beer said: “What about his wife and children, what about his elderly parents, what about his sister? Should we get somebody down to the hospital, that didn’t happen, did it? The first thing was, let’s get a media lawyer.
“Is that what it was like working in this organisation at the time, it was all about brand reputation, about brand image?”
Non-disclosure agreement‼️
Van den Bogerd said that she had acted out of concern for the family, but that the offer was subject to a non-disclosure agreement. This meant that the truth of the Griffiths’s death was not revealed until 2022, and accepting the phased series of payments would oblige the family to drop any legal action. The compensation was not intended to be for Griffiths’s life, she added.
Beer accused Van den Bogerd of speaking in “word soup” in her answers about what conditions were put on the family accepting the money.

It’s the least this #subpostmaster and his family deserve.
Hope the #PostOffice minister gets this sorted for them.

Post Office minister to look at Norwich man's Horizon case https://t.co/YbKT4T4FPG
May I ask a general question of anyone involved #PostOfficeScandal whether or not you were a #Subpostmaster or an employee of a Crown or Franchise branch, Did any of you seek legal advice and or make payment to #LawFirm only for them to later stop working for you on the grounds of a conflict of interest.
Have any you found out that a #LawFirm that you retained, also were working for the Post Office / Royal Mail.

@mariaspears @CastletonLee It should be an automatic process on top and before any compensation. That money is rightfully yours and every #subpostmaster Every penny and interest should come back. It should never have left from where it landed when stolen x

The #PostOfficeScandal weasels are still as slimy & as devious as ever. The #subpostmaster in my own hometown got sacked & sent to prison for theft in the early 2000’s. Each & every single one affected by the #PostOfficeScandal should get at LEAST £1M paid by #Horizon & bonuses!!
Details of how the @PostOffice are still dealing with HSS claims.
They know that within weeks a payment of £75k is available to all claimants and yet they don’t let anyone know this in the offer letter ( received on Saturday)
@kevinhollinrake @liambyrnemp , surely this is enough to know these people have no morals and humanity
@hudgellsol @GouldsBlog @nickwallis @stugoo17 @nattyplums
This poor old lady was so distressed she was almost taken to hospital. She didn’t know what to do and had not heard of the £75k offer , her claim in full would have been around that exact figure .
The post office still sending lowball offers without informing of the £75k
The Post office and HSF lawyers need removing from this immediately as full and fair can never be possible with them involved
