Work continues on the rear apron and engine bay. I cleaned up the edge on the left side, welded the final fender nut on the lower right side, and welded the c-channel in place. It should clean up nice with a skim coat of filler down the road.

Started to weld in the c-channel on the bonnet tonight. I only did the driver's side today. I will get to the rest of the channel later in the week. Every little bit is progress.

Since this door is from a slightly earlier beetle, I had to fill in the old holes for the trim and relocate the just a bit higher.

The louvers are done on the rear fresh air intake. All the old paint was stripped off and the bare metal coated with some flat black paint for the in-term.

So the sandblasting worked pretty good. I was able to clear out most of the old paint inside the louvered air intake. I do have a little more work to do by hand with some sand paper, but I am definitely making progress.

I decided to go with this deck-lid. Someone at some point already stripped it down. It looks ugly but it’s in fantastic shape. No rust, dents, or bent louvers. I will give it a once over tomorrow and see how it cleans up.

The right rear fender has been fitted. I had to widen the bolt holes so I had more play for alignment. Now I need to patch up a couple cracks un the outside lip. Nothing too hard.

So the orange, red, and blue are all from my previous projects and tell a story. The white and stripped down deck-lids are just acquired over time. I am thinking of using one of those for Project #Super71 so I can keep the history of my VW projects on the wall.
