**SECMOL's FCRA registration was cancelled by India's Ministry of Home Affairs on 25 September 2025** under Section 14 of the FCRA Act for alleged violations (Sections 8, 12, 17, 18, 19 & registration conditions). **Government-cited reasons** (per MHA order & reports): - Depositing local funds (e.g. ~₹3.35 lakh bus sale proceeds in 2021-22) into the FCRA account with discrepancies in returns. - Receiving ~₹4.93 lakh from a Swedish donor for workshops on migration, climate change & "sovereignty" — deemed against national interest. - Accounting lapses (e.g. staff stipend deductions recorded incorrectly) and reporting issues. **Impact**: SECMOL can no longer receive or utilise any foreign contributions. This limits funding for its Ladakh-based education, cultural & sustainability programmes. A CBI inquiry into related matters was also launched around then.
