WSC Condemns and Killing of Sajan Malookani, Sarmad Bhayo, and Vinesh
The World Sindhi Congress (WSC) vehemently condemns the extrajudicial killing of Sajan Malookani, a law student at the University of Sindh, whose body was discovered a year after his enforced disappearance. Sajan was abducted on September 1, 2023, along with his friend Sarmad Bhayo. Both were unlawfully detained, and their fate remained unknown until the recent tragic discovery of their remains. Vinesh, another young man, was also extrajudicially killed in the same incident.
This heinous act is part of a disturbing pattern of human rights abuses in Sindh, where young people are frequently targeted by law enforcement agencies through abductions, torture, and killings. The WSC demands immediate action from the Pakistani government to bring the perpetrators to justice and calls on the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for these ongoing violations.
“The enforced disappearance and killing of Sajan Malookani and his companions are a grave violation of human rights and a tragic loss for their families and the Sindhi community,” said Dr. Saghir Shaikh “We cannot stand idly by while the Pakistani state continues to terrorize its citizens with impunity.”
The WSC urges human rights organizations, civil society groups, and governments worldwide to:
Condemn the extrajudicial killings of Sajan Malookani, Sarmad Bhayo, and Vinesh.
Demand a thorough and transparent investigation into their disappearances and deaths, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
Pressure the Pakistani government to end the persecution of Sindhi youth and respect the fundamental human rights of all its citizens.
