Tarion relied on an engineering report later admitted to be “deficient and insufficient” yet the misconduct decision was hidden by a publication ban.

Freehold new home buyers should NOT be financing developers with their unprotected deposits.
And Ontario shouldn’t rely on the #Tarion Guarantee Fund to clean up after deposits disappear.
Protect deposits before they’re lost. Mandatory trust accounts or equivalent protection would safeguard families, restore confidence, and reward reputable builders.

Different companies. The same pattern: selling homes illegally, building without proper authorization or failing to comply with the rules designed to protect consumers.
These aren’t isolated incidents, they expose weaknesses in Ontario’s regulatory system that allow problems to continue until buyers have already lost deposits, homes & years of their lives.
Consumer protection shouldn’t begin after the damage is done. It should prevent it from happening in the first place.

HCRA as regulator should do more than "request" financial records from builders under investigation. This should be a legal requirement, not a request. This was one of the problems with former regulator #Tarion as well. Paper tiger.
