Congratulations to Lukas Steinwender from @UniGraz. He was awarded a prestigious @AT_MarshallPlan Fellowship to work for one semester @VillanovaU on the classification of RR Lyr stars with #machineLearning.
His poster at #tasc6 was a big success too!

@GregHerczeg @sarahkendrew @girlandkat @AstroKatie Streaming of talks and slack questions went well at #TASC6 so ppl in quarantine could still follow/give talks, tho we had to switch to a smaller lecture hall due to audio issues. But social programs like ECR lunch meetings with seniors/mentors only worked as F2F events.
Post-conference check: so far so good... #tasc6

I'm on the final train of my journey back from #tasc6 . A great week, meeting so many new friends and colleagues, and celebrating very cool asteroseismology and science. I look forward to many future such welcoming meetings (even if I am only studying 'slimy rocks') :)

Twelve Austrian scientists working on #asteroseismology all over the world. We just met in Leuven for #tasc6.

Thank you for awarding me best postdoc talk & longest talk title! I unfortunately couldn't be there this afternoon.
This was my first TASC (somehow!) and it well exceeded the high expectations I had based on years of stories from friends & colleagues. You'll see me again!

@timbedding closing talk. Good feelings this week. Highlights tutorials and open science. Talk photos. 2012 lookback- LOL. Seismo now common, all over HR diagram, model advances, now have binaries and magnets, machine learning. History of scaling. Thanks and Hawaii next. #tasc6
Sam Grunblatt: no extragalactic exoplanets yet, but maybe someday? #tasc6

@SKGrunblatt Small sample of planets around giants, new in TESS. Planet reinflation- K2 suggests, TESS unclear. Hot star obliquity large, should damp once evolve,1 yes. Constrain orbit & scatterings decay with more TESS. Search extragalactic stars, no planets, place limits #tasc6
yep, I’m awake now #tasc6

@TravisABerger homogeneous analysis of Kepler, K2 &TESS planets using Gaia DR3 plus PARSEC. Kepler radius gap hard in K2&TESS-planets too big. 2 theories to form- differ in star mass, planet size & incident flux. Measure slope more consistent with core-powered mass-loss #tasc6
Travis Berger: gap between super-Earths and sub-Neptunes prefers core-powered mass loss over photoevaporation #tasc6

J. Pepper ~all stars host planets, known hosts reflect our bias. Host properties often not well constrained (seismology rare). 'Best'systems= underreported quantized errors? Need reanalysis. Trends in[Fe/H], mass still interesting questions. Many populations still to study #tasc6
Josh Pepper on properties of the host stars of planetary systems #tasc6

Josh Pepper points to the recordings of a @KITP_UCSB program (and its associated conference) in 2019 as a great resource to learn about characterising exoplanet hosts. #tasc6

@Diegodoy91 Focus on rotation, activity, connect to age. Stars slow over time, but not simple (stall, gap, weakend). Use wide binaries(never interact) including evolved star (precise age) to get more constraints (including ages and [Fe/H] not in clusters). Initial results! #tasc6
@nrui_tweet Use seismology to find core masses inconsistent with stellar mass (mergers?). Model as rapid surface accretion- happens if primary after TAMS and final M above 2 Msun (normally nondegenerate). 6 strong candidates. So far no lithium, rotation, activity oddity :( #tasc6
C. Johnston binaries everywhere. interactions can often make evolve differently. Populates new regimes- some pulsate? Useful:constrain models. eclipse models very good; constrain mixing (range?). Photometry identify EBs, need to characterize (slow), need RVs or time delay. #tasc6
