IT'S OFFICIAL: Tropical Depression Seven has strengthened and is now officially Tropical Storm Gabrielle.

The National Hurricane Center has initiated advisories on Tropical Depression Seven (#TD7) over the central Atlantic. The system is poorly organized due to its elongated structure, which is entangled with some upper-level troughing and dry air to the northwest, and is struggling to develop a well-defined circulation.
A generally northwestward track is expected to carry TD7 well north of the Caribbean and into the western Atlantic. Models indicate potential for TD7 to approach #Bermuda in the longer range, but this would be 6-7 days from now, and it is too early to know if impacts will occur there.
Wind shear and dry air are likely to limit TD7 for the next few days, but gradual intensification into a tropical storm is expected (next name would be #Gabrielle). Environmental conditions will become more conducive for intensification this weekend as the storm moves into the western Atlantic, where the NHC forecast depicts strengthening into a hurricane.
#TD7 has formed in the Atlantic with the HWRF developing it into a category 1 storm within 5 days.
