Being illiterate is a shackle on a person's ankle, holding them out of opportunity.

Most public schools do not teach decoding (or encoding) and that’s why 67+ percent of K-12 students cannot read proficiently at the lowest expectation, grade level. #LiteracyCrisis
There is no excuse for this dismal reading statistic.

I want school choice for every family in Oregon. Kids should not be held hostage in public schools where less than 40% of 3rd graders read on grade level.
My children are excellent readers because of additional resources.
Education should be a hand up, not a shackle.
