Not a stratovolcano in Italy, but arguably just as cool. Check out the geology of the Vesuvius 7.5' quad - it features the Blue Ridge thrust fault and outcrops of fault breccia. #TectonicsTuesday https://t.co/K7dEwYhUR6

Offset fluvial terraces can be key markers for intraplate seismicity. Pazzaglia et al. 2021 used OSL and CRN geochronology to calculate ages and incision rates on terraces upstream and downstream of the 2011 rupture in central VA. https://t.co/JoiOcMdcA6 #TectonicsTuesday

#TectonicsTuesday VA currently sits along a passive margin with relatively low seismic activity, while extensional basins show signs of paleotectonics. The energy resource potential of these Mesozoic basins has been recognized for at least 270 years. https://t.co/RhXmu99KhT
