Small-cap explorers are where you may find the greatest leverage in this #uranium bull cycle. Most of them, however, will never discover an economically viable deposit and will simply continue diluting shareholders.
But there is a key factor that can make a huge difference, and one you should really pay attention to if you invest in explorers:
👉 Historic drill results.
It makes a massive difference when an exploration company has access to a large database of historic drilling. If the data is reliable, management already knows where to drill and can be almost certain of achieving at least similar results.
Historic datasets can also be leveraged using AI and modern exploration techniques to better understand mineralization and optimize new drill programs.
One company that really stands out is Myriad #Uranium ($M.CN).
At its Copper Mountain project, approximately $85M was spent historically drilling over 2,000 boreholes, identifying seven deposits with historic resources, 15 additional high-potential prospects, and even designing a large-scale mine.
Neither Myriad nor its partner Rush Rare Metals initially realized the full extent of this historic data when entering the project, a very fortunate discovery.
A “Control Area” at Copper Mountain, centered on the Canning Deposit, was estimated to host a potential mineral endowment of ~245 million pounds of uranium. Myriad and Rush control roughly 70% of this area, including an even higher percentage of the historic drill holes.
A larger “Assessment Area” was estimated to contain a potential mineral endowment of ~655 million pounds of uranium, of which Myriad and Rush control approximately 29%.
These figures are impressive on their own, but the 2024 drill program has already validated and exceeded expectations based on historic data, while also discovering entirely new, deeper mineralization. Importantly, these endowment estimates are based only on data down to about 600 feet.
