Here's my story, but it's not about me - it's about those who are not yet using active travel to get around the city. Let's make it a safe option for everyone!! Wed 6pm Lanark Road 🚲 #SaveLanarkRoad #SpacesForPeople #ThanksForTheSpace
@Cyclesouthedin @best_edinburgh

Wednesday 18h00 see everyone there, yes? (Dress smart I imagine? No fluorescent jaikets.)

#ThanksfortheSpace Lovely cycle from swimming at the Gyle, canal to town, around the south side visiting various shops and then up to parents using a huge amount of the spaces for people infra.

Delighted the Green amendment today calls for retention of Links Gardens scheme. The space has been used for dodgeball, roller blading, hover boarding & could be even better used by the community. Let’s #SaveLinksGardens

Don't gripe about #SpacesForPeople not being exactly what you would have done: just aim to help everyone do better next time. #ThanksForTheSpace
#thanksforthespace. Really can’t say it enough! Closure of a section of Sciennes Road is essential for the school and great for the community. Reduction of rat running and vehicles. Available for nurseries and holiday clubs out of hours and school hols. Again, #thanksforthespace
Sciennes School bursting at the seams. Help us keep the road closed and give space for our kids #spacestoplay @edinburghpaper @TheScotsman @SteveAMBurgess @lmacinnessnp @AlisonDickieSNP @djohnsonmsp @IanMurrayMP

#thanksforthespace Now can we keep them please?
The protected parts of the cycle lane on #Causewayside make walking to the shops on the narrow pavement that little bit safer. #ThanksForTheSpace #SpacesForPeople

🙂"temporary pandemic urban initiatives becoming permanent" in cities round the world
Don't listen to parochial stories that this is some #Edinburgh eccentricity!

#ThanksForTheSpace These before and after pictures help to show the amazing difference that #SpacesforPeople measures have made on Corstorphine High Street for kids walking or wheeling to @corstorphineps.

Absolutely, it’s been amazing to have more space and to not have to stress quite as much about walking here. #ThanksForTheSpace
This section of the school journey on Manse Road is improved thanks to Spaces for People. The white car (in the after pic) parked on double yellows causing an obstruction & was joined by a pavement parking Range Rover, but the narrowest section was clear! #ThanksForTheSpace

Before and after. Photos of a typical primary school pick up time on Corstorphine High Street - u-turns, buggies/young children exposed to fumes from running engines at tailpipe height - versus changes made via Spaces for People. #ThanksForTheSpace

Corstorphine High Street is a busy route for motor vehicles avoiding St. John's Road and accidents regularly happen here - Spaces for People interventions have helped give some space back and we'd like them to be made permanent. #ThanksForTheSpace @Edinburgh_CC
Found some pics of the original #SpacesForPeople cones/signs - we’ve come a long way! Remember magic wands and Cone Rangers? 😀 #ThanksForTheSpace Edinburgh.

Big shout out for Edinburgh’s #SpacesforPeople Who remembers when the first cones went in for the health worker 🚲 lanes to the two major hospitals? #ThanksForTheSpace

#Thanksforthespace This effective barrier on the Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route prevents vehicles from access so you aren’t being chased by cars on the uphill slog up Braid Avenue. This is especially welcome if you are shepherding child cyclists, or carrying heavy shopping.
