57 years ago, on July 8, 1967, The Monkees began a national tour with Jimi Hendrix as the opening act. Because Monkees fans continually drowned him out with their screams for the headliner, Jimi eventually asked to be released from his tour contract.. Yeah, it was a bit weird.
