Let’s explore India’s dance heritage.
Theme: Dance Heritage
Tag: #theme_pic_India_danceheritage
Display Day: Sunday, 22nd March 2026
India’s dance heritage is a wonderful blend of classical, folk, and tribal forms.
About Dance Heritage
Classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Kathak, and Sattriya reflect centuries of refined artistic traditions.
Folk dance forms like Thirayattam, Bihu, Lavani, Garba, Giddha, and Ghoomar represent the cultural vibrancy of different regions.
Tribal dance forms such as the Bamboo Dance, Santhali, Gaur, and many others -
- further show how vast and diverse our dance heritage truly is.
Many of these dance traditions are performed to celebrate seasons, especially the arrival of spring, making this the perfect time to explore them.
What Should You Look For?
When it comes to dance, there are many elements worth capturing:
- The form and movement
- Attire and costumes
- Props, masks, and headgear
- Most importantly, expressions and body language
We do not intend to restrict you to a specific element. Instead, we encourage you to experiment and observe different aspects of a dance performance - circular motion, leading lines, expressions, portraits, and any visual elements that tell the story of the performance.
We also request you to share some information about the photograph you have clicked. This is important because everyone may not be familiar with every dance form.
After some internal brainstorming, we realized that we have not explored performing arts heritage enough. So here it is—let’s explore the dance heritage of India.
Please Note:
1: This theme focuses on the dance heritage of India, so please be respectful and mindful of what you share.
2: As always, we prefer self-clicked photographs. If you share an image from another source, please provide proper credit.
3: Please do not misquote the tag — it is #theme_pic_India_danceheritage. If you have any doubts, feel free to DM us.

A photograph is a story, and photography is all about storytelling.
A photograph is viewed in two dimensions- X and Y. But when you click a picture, there is also a third dimension: X, Y, and Z -where Z represents depth in the image.
Once you know how to manipulate the Z dimension you enter a different kind of storytelling.
You step into a creative technique of Forced Perspective.
So the theme for the Week: Forced Perspective
Tag: #theme_pic_India_perspective
Display Day: Sunday, 1st March 2026
Forced perspective simply means manipulating depth.
When done successfully, everyday objects can be used to create surprising illusions of scale and distance.
How do you create a forced perspective photograph?
1: Place one object close to the camera and another slightly farther away.
2: Align them in such a way that they appear connected or interacting.
3: Click!
It sounds simple while reading, but in practice it can be quite challenging and a lot of fun.
Indoors it may still feel easier.
Outdoors? Well… are you up for the challenge?
Reference Image attached.
Tips
For DSLR / Mirrorless users:
* Use a smaller aperture for greater depth of field.
* Manual focus is often more effective, as autofocus may get confused.
For Mobile users:
* Enable gridlines to help with alignment.
* Ensure both subjects remain sharp.
* AVOID PORTRAIT MODE.
You have 5 days to experiment, discover something new, and explore objects and locations creatively.
You can also share them on Instagram using the same tag and by adding our handle: @theme_pic_india (https://t.co/ATbT5hikPm)
Let’s see your images for #theme_pic_India_perspective on Sunday, 1st March 2026.
Thanks to @Vyenky_Khatao for his prolific inputs

Drawing inspiration from @Vyenky_Khatao let’s try to translate emotions!
When we click a photograph, we seldom think about what emotion the image might evoke in the viewer.
One such emotional state is Solitude.
Theme: #Theme_Pic_India_Solitude
Display Day: Sunday, 7th December 2025
This theme invites you to explore how an image translates into an emotion—and how perception shapes interpretation.
Solitude can be expressed through:
> A person
> A place
> An object or moment
> Or a relationship between all the above three
Importantly, solitude does not always mean loneliness. It can also reflect peace, distance, stillness, pause, or quiet strength.
Typically, landscapes or a solitary figure come to mind first.
But can solitude be conveyed
Through minimalism?
Through light streaks?
Through silhouettes?
Gather every technique you know—and push beyond the obvious.
Bring your perspective, experiment boldly, and let your creativity speak this Sunday, 7th December.
PS:
1: We adore self clicked pics.
2: This is a theme to help YOU experiment and NOT A SEARCH TERM to share pics without credits.

We know about leading lines, and yesterday, we also noticed a trend emerging around curves.
So, we decided to take it a step further: how about capturing ‘S’ curves?
So the weekly theme is:
#theme_pic_india_Scurves
Display Day: Sunday, 1st November 2025
🐪What is an S-Curve?
The S-Curve is a composition technique — a type of leading line that moves through the frame in a gentle, serpentine path resembling the letter ‘S’.
While straight leading lines often suggest speed and a sharp focus toward an object, an S-curve conveys calmness and fluidity, leading the viewer’s eye to a point of deeper interest in a smooth, winding manner.
An S-Curve often creates a relaxing and natural visual flow, helping the viewer perceive the image as part of a larger story sometimes extending beyond the frame itself.
🩺Where can you find an S-Curve?
They’re everywhere; in rivers, railway tracks, winding roads, ticket queues, or bustling flower markets.
This technique is often seen in hill station promotions, where winding roads symbolize serenity.
But let’s challenge ourselves — can we spot S-Curves in temple arches, old forts, or city streets?
It’s your turn to explore! You just need the right perspective, the right direction, and a clear objective behind the lens.
🙋Reminder:
#theme_pic_india_Scurves
Display Day: Sunday, 1st November 2025
P.S.☠️
As always, we love self-clicked photos, but we also appreciate creative finds from other users or the internet — just remember to give proper credits.

Back with our weekly themes!
This week, we are keeping it exciting yet deceptively simple. With today's advanced tech, Panorama might seem like an easy theme, but let's not get fooled.
Have you ever imagined capturing a landscape where the sun sets on one end, and the moon rises on the other? With panoramic photography, it's possible.
So yes, this week's theme is: Panorama
Use the tag: #theme_pic_India_panorama
Display Day: Sunday, 3rd August 2025
Why is it not as easy as it seems?
With mirrorless or DSLR kits, you're essentially stitching multiple images together. And while most mobile phones come equipped with a panoramic mode, the real skill lies in how you apply it!
Choosing the right frame, setting, and timing is crucial.
What can you explore?
1: Landscapes (a safe start)
2: Temple premises (manageable)
3: Cityscapes (manageable)
3: Streets (challenging)
4: Layered or light streaks (May god bless you!)
Panorama is one of the finest ways to tell a visual story within a single frame. Let the wide lens of your imagination roam free.
A terse reminder before we sign off:
Who does not love engagement, but engaging with someone else’s content as your own is simply not done.
In short, please share your self-clicked pics.
Trust us, we can usually tell when a photo is “picked”.
Looking forward to some truly awe-inspiring panoramas this Sunday!

#theme_declaration
Let’s explore a composition technique this week!
By now, many of us would know that a photograph often contains three visual layers: Foreground, Midground, and Background.
You might have guessed it already.
This week’s theme is: #theme_pic_India_layers
Display Day: Sunday, 6th July 2025
A bit more about layers!
Every photograph can be broken down into:
1) Foreground: The area closest to the camera
2) Midground: The main subject or focal point
3) Background: The distant elements that provide context or setting.
Layered photography is a composition technique that involves placing or capturing different elements across these layers to add depth, create a 3D effect, and enhance visual storytelling.
Each layer contributes to the narrative, whether through shadows, light, textures, or expressions.
But here's the key: the elements across these layers must complement each other.
But here's the key: the elements within these layers must complement each other.
In the given example:
1: Foreground: Wet road, reflection
2: Midground: A Couple under an umbrella
3: Background: White Crane and buildings
In a recent tweet exchange between @MamtaTrivedi29 @fromsamslens @mabend2 @vidyahindu2811 @Vyenky_Khatao & @SadhaMaanus we stumbled upon this technique. It piqued our interest, shared it with the core team, and they began exploring, understanding and experimenting with it.
This technique can be applied across many genres of photography—exactly which ones?
That’s up to you to discover!
So here’s to a new technique, a new learning curve. Take your time. Observe. Experiment. Create. And most importantly, enjoy the process.
We look forward to your visual stories on Sunday, 6th June, with #theme_pic_india_layers
A few reminders:
1: We appreciate self-clicked photos
2: Images from the internet are allowed ONLY with proper credits
3: This theme is open to @theme_pic_world with #theme_pic_world_layers
PS: Previous tweet retweeted with proper date

Have you noticed the different ‘Arches’ when you are walking on a street, visiting a heritage site or simply attending a function?
If not, it is time to explore them.
The weekly theme is Arch.
The tag is #theme_pic_India_arch
You can gather/ click pics till Sunday, 29th June 2025.
However, though this is a weekly theme, it is open from today itself.
A bit more…
To think of it, an Arch is not limited to a temple or a heritage site; an arch can also be floral, made of leaves, or composed of random objects.
Remember, the depth below an arch, the structure, and texture, etc., are what make it more interesting.
Where can you find them?
Anywhere, it depends on your perception.
So, let's explore the various arches around you.
Looking forward to some unique interpretations.
PS:
1: We love self-clicked pics.
2: We appreciate pics from the internet with proper credits only.

#theme_declaration
A weekly theme this time, and this time it is not related to technique, but more on developing a photographic eye.
It is about 'Colour contrast'
Tag: #theme_pic_India_colorcontrast
Display Day: Sunday, 13th April 2025
What is contrast?
Simply speaking, it is the difference between brightness and darkness, or, Hot & Cold coloursin a click, as in, one shade could be darker than the other in the same frame.
But, if you dig, there are types of contrast e.g.
- Tonal
- Colour
- Complementary / Supplementary
- High/ Low key
Now, it is up to you to discover and explore the various types of contrasts and capture them in a single frame.
You can try:
- Different exposure settings
- Play with light and shadows, e.g. Red color looks different in sunlight and moonlight.
Request:
- Explore colour as much as possible.
- As always, the clicks have to be self-clicked and India-centric.
- If you do wish to share something inspirational, please do share with the proper credits.
Explore. Observe. Click

"Photography is the art of frozen time."
This week's theme is all about motion—but not just any motion, circular motion!
You have now explored the fun of shutter speed control, panning, and light trails—capturing motion in various linear forms.
Now, let’s take it up a notch!
Let's capture only circular motion.
The tag is #theme_pic_India_circularmotion
As with all our weekly themes, you have six days to study and capture your images.
The display day is Sunday, 6th April 2025.
What is Circular Motion in Photography?
It refers to capturing movement in a way that creates a circular or spiral effect in the image.
We have attached examples for better understanding:
1: PC: @Pravin7757: Light trails are captured to create a distinct circular motion.
2: PC: Eugene Golovesov (Source: https://t.co/iJLj1UVCGG) The object is stationary, but the camera has been moved in a circular motion using long exposure, thereby creating a swirling effect.
Techniques to capture Circular Motion?
> Panning with Rotation
>Long Exposure with Spinning Lights
> Spinning Your Device
AND
Your images must be India-centric, i.e. the subject of the photograph must be Indian.
Sounds exciting, right?
So, put on your thinking caps and creative gloves, and start clicking!
Let’s showcase the magic of circular motion this Sunday, 6th April 2025.
📸 Happy Clicking!

Flowers have been our most popular theme to date. Since its launch, at least 5-6 photos are tagged with it daily, and that brings us immense joy!
But we thought, why not take it a notch higher?
How about adding a macro element?
So the theme is #theme_pic_India_macroflower
This theme is all about capturing macro photos specifically of flowers, bringing out intricate details, textures, and the hidden beauty that often goes unnoticed.
As macro photography requires some study, experimentation, and exploration, we are setting the display day (the day you can start sharing your photo) as Sunday, 23rd March.
But if you’re confident enough, feel free to start today itself!
A quick note on macro vs extreme close-up:
Macro photography captures the fine details of very small subjects, often making them appear larger than life.
Extreme close-ups frame a small portion of a subject but do not necessarily magnify it beyond life-size.
It is up to you to discover and explore the difference. The line between the two is incredibly thin, and that’s what makes it fun!
Looking forward to seeing some stunning macro flower photography. Keep clicking!
#Theme_Pic_India_MacroFlower #ClickForIndia
P.S.: We expect the photos to be self-clicked and non-AI. While we’re not averse to AI-generated or non-self-clicked images (as they can serve as inspiration), what truly disappoints us is when the original photographer or tool is not given due credit.
Please respect creators and their work!

On 26th January, #India celebrates its Republic Day. It is a day when we all come together to honour our nation's vibrant tapestry. Its rich heritage, diverse cultures, stunning locations, unique traditions, and, most of all, incredible diversity.
We thought, why limit the celebration to just one day?
Let’s extend the joy throughout the week!
So the theme is ' State Speciality '
Tag: #theme_pic_India_statespecials
No specific display day i.e. you can start sharing pics today leading up to 26th January which is a Sunday.
What is expected?
Answer one simple question through your photo/s:
"What is my city/district/state best known for?"
It could be food, art forms, heritage sites, customs, festivals or all of this; but it should be anything that defines the essence of your region through your lens.
It could be the state you are living in or a state you have visited.
A must-have is, sharing the name of the state and city (if it's ok with you) and a bit of description.
Let's collectively weave a visual story of India’s beauty and diversity, celebrating not just our nation’s Republic Day but everything that makes it extraordinary.

You've been exploring various themes and techniques to click stunning pics, and that's incredible.
But have you tried fusion?
You probably have, in one way or another, without realizing it.

Details:
Tag: #theme_pic_India_fusion
Display Day: Sunday, 15th December 2024
Expectation: Specify which two or more themes you’ve combined in your click e.g.
#flowers #sunsets
#theme_pic_India_fusion
What is Fusion?
This theme is about sharpening your creative eye by combining two or more distinct themes in a single photo. It’s a way to challenge yourself and discover new possibilities.
Examples:
Bokeh goes well with flowers. Can you try panning, silhouettes, or light streaks with flowers instead?
Sunsets are often paired with heritage. What about combining sunsets with street portraits?
Minimalism with food?
Astrophotography with Engineering?
If you think about it, many of you have already experimented with fusion; it’s just about becoming more conscious of the creative process.
You'll soon notice that a single subject can open up endless photo opportunities.
Explore the possibilities, get creative, and have fun!

Capturing motion in a still image- isn’t it intriguing?
Following our Bokeh theme, announcing Panning Photography as our next theme for
Sunday, November 17, 2024,
using the tag #theme_pic_India_panning
Thanks to @mabend2 & @Pravin7757 for the suggestion.
Some inputs:
Panning is when you move the camera horizontally to keep a moving subject in focus, causing the background to blur and create a sense of motion. In photography, any axis movement (horizontal or vertical) with a slow shutter speed creates this effect.
Previously, we explored light trails with #theme_pic_india_lighttrails, where we used a slow shutter speed with a steady camera. Now, let’s add camera movement to the mix.
Sounds simple, right? Let’s explore!
Check out some examples below for inspiration.
You have five days until Sunday, 17th Nov. to capture your panning shots.
Don’t forget to share them with the tag #theme_pic_India_panning
P.S. This time no one has any doubts in the core team.

Have you noticed those beautiful blurred light circles in the background of photos, especially around the subject?
That effect is called "Bokeh". Chances are you have captured it without even realizing it!
The week’s theme is Bokeh, and we invite you to experiment!
The tag is #theme_pic_India_bokeh
Explore as much as possible, experiment as much as you wish, click as many as possible; and tweet your pics on
Sunday, 10th November with the tag #theme_pic_India_bokeh
Attached is an example.
Bokeh which originates from the Japanese word Boke (meaning "blur" or "haze"), can enhance the subject in your photos beautifully if used creatively.
Remember, while Bokeh shines in low light, it can also be stunning in daylight e.g. water reflections and can appear in the foreground too!
There are multiple information sources to learn from.
So, put on your creative hats and start clicking!
A few tips:
1: Share self-clicked pictures
2: Anything from India and/or Indian from a foreign land is welcome.
3: Feel free to share articles or videos on Bokeh.
4: Finally; copy pasting, screenshots without source credits is a big no! We keep on saying this for your good- copyright infringement is an ugly thing to go through.
