👉Before diving into this transition, let’s pay homage to the very first app. When @helium ’s global #IoT network emerged, from a bold intuition by @dspillere @hotspotty was born. This pioneering app provided real-time data from every Helium hotspot a key milestone in the evolution of #TiPIN.
✅But who, when, and how did we coin “DePIN”?
👉In early September 2022, it became clear that “TiPIN” was too narrow a term, failing to capture the full potential of a booming industry. The first conversations sparked in our Telegram hub. Within days, @MessariCrypto and @Raullen introduced the term “DePIN.”
✅Did the debate end there?
👉Not at all. Lively discussions and friendly debates erupted between TiPINers and DePINers so much so that the conversation spilled over onto X for days. Ultimately, a community poll was launched by @MessariCrypto and @Raullen (@iotex_io) on X and we in our Telegram group (https://t.co/iSFQwPnQNY)

_Messari spearheaded a community voting on November 5, 2022, to choose a single term. The result was that DePIN was selected.
