There’s opportunity for @LibDems MPs to influence the #ChildrensWellbeingBill & breakfast policy design & implementation.

1️⃣Include different models, not just breakfast clubs
2️⃣Focus on pupils/uptake
3️⃣Get sustainable/sufficient ££
4️⃣Support schools to get implementation right
5️⃣Help the pupils who need it most so no child or young person is #TooHungryToLearn

We are very pleased to see that the government's Children’s Wellbeing Bill - announced in the King’s Speech - will include a requirement for free school breakfast clubs in every primary school.

In @magic_breakfast “What’s for breakfast?” report we found young carers in particular benefit from school breakfasts that are hunger-focussed, stigma and barrier free. More children and young people need the opportunity to have a nutritious meal so they’re not #TooHungryToLearn
New DfE data out today:
A 38.5% (!) increase in the number of young carers since 2022/23.
Free School Meal eligibility is now 24.6% (2.1 million) in 2023/24, up from 15.4% in 2018/19.
16% increase in council funded AP placements since 2022/23. An 82% increase since 2018/19.
