@maxleoamberg @PermanentRail It was a work-in-progress part of the site... There are some to be found at both the #CapacityComparisons and #TransitCapacityComparison hashtags but hopefully that part of the website will be up this year as well!
Useful #TransitCapacityComparison: bikes and trains have highest rates of ‘people moved per width of track’. Note ‘people moved per £ of investment + running cost’ or ‘per tonne of carbon’ would improve buses and walking. Bikes always win but *what measure would favour cars?*
@1000millimeter @boringcompany Yes, see my #TransitCapacityComparison series (though I need to do a new one with these new numbers):

Our next #TransitCapacityComparison considers the capacity of the @BoringCompany's "Loop" system, which is essentially a lane of traffic buried underground.
For comparison, we've included:
🚌 @NCT_Buses' Orange Line
🚈 Manchester's @MCRMetrolink
🚃 London's @TLRailUK

To all budding #webdevelopers out there - we are looking at creating a part of our website where visitors can create their own #CapacityComparisons (as an update to the #TransitCapacityComparison series)... Can you help?

Interesting long-read by @iamkennethchan about why building public transport systems with low capacity locked-in is an incredibly expensive mistake...
(it makes great use of p/h/d values like the ones in the #TransitCapacityComparison series) https://t.co/8WDqSnNxQW
Today's #TransitCapacityComparison looks at how electric cars and driverless cars can improve the capacity of our roads and reduce congestion...
We are comparing a city street of
🚘 petrol/diesel cars
🔋 electric cars
🤖 driverless cars
with
🚲 a single 3.5m-wide cycle lane

@stushurlock Well, let's compare using a couple of @PermanentRail's #TransitCapacityComparison graphics shall we...?

@LindsayPB We couldn't agree more. As you say, it isn't just an environmental obligation - getting rid of cars from our urban areas is an economic necessity if we want to get as many people moving as quickly and easily as possible.

If you want a one-stop shop for railway and sustainable transport content (like the #Network2050 and #TransitCapacityComparison series), then @PermanentRail is worth a follow...
Let's see if we can get past 1000 😉
What can HS2 deliver for the existing railway? All the freed-up space that HS2 leaves behind can be filled with local and regional trains.
Elsewhere, the alleviation of pressure on key bottlenecks will improve services across the UK, from Aberystwyth to Acle.

Driverless cars are unlikely to improve traffic in cities, and may exacerbate problems by creating peak flows in both directions.
Compare these figures to the capacity of a cycle lane 🚲👍

Today's #TransitCapacityComparison is a benchmark for the rest of the UK... A selection of different transport modes in London (including @TramsLondon, @TfLBusAlerts, @centralline and @elizabethline).
How do these system capacities compare with your experience as a passenger?

@moore_oliver My thoughts exactly.
This #TransitCapacityComparison makes the point nicely:

If you want a simple, clear picture summarising why investing in active travel infrastructure isn't just an environmental duty but an economic necessity, look no further...
Here is our #TransitCapacityComparison of increasingly bigger roads versus a wee cycle lane. See?

@AklDesignChamp @humantransit @transport_nz @T4America @WIREDTransport @NACTO @StreetsblogUSA @awalkerinLA @MRCagney @SmartGrowthUSA @grescoe Still has a fraction of the capacity of a two-track railway. Sigh.
(See the #TransitCapacityComparison series for numbers.)
@tom_watson @LabourCycles This #TransitCapacityComparison (snappy, right?) shows clearly why this disparity is crazy... Cycling infrastructure carries far more people per sq.m!
Enabling more active travel across the UK isn't just an environmental duty, it's an economic necessity.
