Heading home now. For real though, can we talk about we have huge sections of this city that are completely inaccessible as a pedestrian and via transit? Heaven forbid you have limited mobility. Iโm literally climbing over snow banks avoiding cars in parking lots. #transitweekyeg
What does @FreeTransitYEG #TransitWeekYEG mean to me?
You know that feeling when it's super snowy or rainy outside and you want to hang out with your friends, but don't want to drive? And then a pal says, "it's cool, I'll pick you up on the way!" - that's transit.
Shoutout to the @TransitApp it makes commuting easier for a person who canโt figure out bus schedules. ๐
Still dismayed to see the UberX option at the bottom of the screen. Uber shouldnโt have a place in how we commute in any city ๐

Today I took @takeETSalert #4 & #8 to get downtown! ๐ It might be a bit slower but it stops just around the corner from my house & I enjoy meandering through my neighbourhood & can catch up on work instead of stressing about the drive.

Flawless day on transit to end the weekly morning commute. Iโve lived in this city for 5 years taking transit regularly, and I still donโt know how the hell these buses work and itโs frankly amazing I get anywhere on time. #transitweekyeg

Had one of the worst days - BUT both my buses arrived right as I did to my stops. A bus driver got out of their seat and helped a mobility impaired individual off the bus. Love to see community looking out for each other @FreeTransitYEG #TransitWeekYEG

That said, I am super nervous about the transit redesign and that it's going to mess with my near-idyllic commute of 1 bus and a short walk. It's already so hard to get anywhere that's not downtown, especially outside regular commuting hours. 4/

Driving this week reinforced that I LOVE taking the bus. Despite having a shorter commute, I found I didn't have any time for myself these last two days. Since I reserve my bus ride for knitting & podcasts, that was gone and I felt the effects. 3/

I take one bus from NE Edmonton to West Edmonton. In the mornings I hop on around 7am and it's a 45 min ride, and the afternoon is about an hour, even though I get off sooner to walk to daycare and pick up my toddler (we walk home).
Driving is about 25-35 mins. 2/
