The answer to all of life's questions is "just add more lights." #TreeTruths

Yes, your tree's star shines above the rest.
But take time to look at the ornaments.
You find beauty in the little things.

I may not have always looked good on the outside.
But I've always felt like myself on the inside.
That's what matters.

Don't use All of the #Thanksgiving Wine ๐ท as an excuse to text your ex today. Don't do it. You'll thank me tomorrow. #TreeTruths
When in doubt, add more lights. #TreeTruths
This is an irreplaceable heritage tree in Otago, New Zealand, planted in 1918 to commemorate the loss of Private T Fairley in the Great War. It is dying next to a strip of roadside herbicide application. It time for NZ to wise up, chemicals kill trees. #TreeTruths

The purist view on topping trees, i.e. significant crown reduction with big cuts, is that it causes great harm. That is a very narrow perspective. It is great for ecology, and is often a far better option to felling because of the habitat it provides. #TreeTruths

A lot of people put a lot of effort into exposing the tree mismanagement overseen by Sheffield City Council. There is no hiding from this FC report. #TreeTruths

The full Forestry Commission report into the Sheffield tree debacle makes difficult reading for the council. Here are the key takeaways: https://t.co/dKkOWtyIRj
The idea that centuries-old heritage trees that are living links to the past & bridges to the future can be replaced by saplings is laughable, yet governments and corporations continue to peddle this spin. Once they are gone, they are gone forever, that's the reality. #TreeTruths
After 300 years, 'splendid' red gum will be felled for North East Link https://t.co/CxS1TNBwBi via @theage
A highly respected tree officer colleague of mine said, quite a few years ago now, words to the effect that pollarding is a climate adaptation policy for the future - they are instant big trees just sitting there ready to go. Such wisdom is so refreshing. #TreeTruths

I thought the same until I began to look at what happened instead of what the texts set out. Nothing of the sort happenes, and it is a complete fallacy to use this tainted logic to justify the removal of healthy trees. Time to move on intellgiently.#TreeIntelligence #TreeTruths
Trees planted at the same time will age and die at roughly the same time ..
How will we manage that in urban settings like this?
#UrbanTreeTalk @TheStreetTree
(NB This fine #avenue of riverside planes @WandsworthPark is NOT dying yet)

More proof of how out of control the situation was in Sheffield regarding the mismanagement of street trees. An excellent result for those protestors that stood up for their trees and got wrongfully arrested for doing so. Hard to believe it could happen, but it did! #TreeTruths
At 1m+ diameter, these 80-year old cherries in Vancouver are impressive without blossom, but I bet they are wonderful in spring. They don't normally grow this big in Britain, especially in Sheffield, where they are often cut down in their prime. @SaveSheffTrees #TreeTruths

Sheffield City Council used technical tree arguments to justify felling healthy trees & the tree world failed to present a unified voice to challenge any misuse. Read about research needed to prevent a repeat in a city near you. #SaveSheffTrees #TreeTruths

Paul Barton, a top UK tree expert, was a tree surveyor in Sheffield in 2012, & writes in the @ArbAssociation ARBmagazine: "The Sheffield Streets Ahead contract is providing a fascinating but depressing case study on how not to do urban forestry." #SaveSheffTrees #TreeTruths

Sheffield #TreeTruths 17: Amey tree expert says most older Sheffield cherries "are infected with bleeding canker, which tends to kill trees over a number of years & can also spread to other species". Not if Amey get there first, eh? #SaveSheffTrees @shftelegraph @ChrisGPackham

Sheffield #TreeTruths 16: Amey tree expert says "diversity is good, for wildlife and insects as well as trees". Really, future diversity by cutting mature trees with centuries of life left is 'good'. Where is that in the technical references, then? #SaveSheffTrees @shftelegraph

Sheffield #TreeTruths 15: Sheffield Councillor implies 75% mature or overmature trees = "catastrophic decline". Really, is there any credible expert support to justify this interpretation, because I saw quite the opposite in my visits? #SaveSheffTrees @shftelegraph
