Found this cutie on a pin oak tree today. Shit pic, but Glossonotus acuminatus slays always. It's 1 of my fave genera, partly bc it includes the 1st treehopper species I ever collected as a ugrad. Squealed today just like I did then. Hope he's ready to πΆ #TreehopperTuesday

Missed another #TreehopperTuesday. Here's a meme I found on FB & slightly amended, as my treehopper PR duties require. Likewise, I'm obligated to suggest bumping treehopper worship up to #3...y'all do y'all tho π

Just hopping into Twitterland to drop a #TreehopperTuesday post. I haven't felt very inspired the last few weeks, but spring sunshine is helping to turn things around...here's a rough approximation of Membracis sanguineoplaga.

I'm behind, I skipped this week's #TreehopperTuesday. They are coming, a flood shall come y'all, I swear. Til then, as I cough and dance in quarantine:

Quarantine threw off my sense of time and #TreehopperTuesday. Here's an oak cutie that is set to emerge now-May or so, where it occurs in North America. Cyrtolobus arcuatus, maybe. A 5th instar nymph.

Headed to Mexico later today, so I figure this oak treehopper (Telamonini) that I collected in the state of Puebla last year is perfect for #TreehopperTuesday. The red blob hangin' onto its face is mite & yes, it bothers me beyond measure (even more than the blurry humeral horn).

Alright so #TreehopperTuesday quickly got away from me, but I guess still technically happened bc Kaikaia gaga made her most public debut! Nevertheless, here's a fabulous Alchisme head shot from Flickr to make up for it:

Digging thru @FieldMuseum treehoppers today. I'm on the hunt for new Illinois state records and more. #TreehopperTuesday post coming ASAP!
Today's #TreehopperTuesday post showcases the genus Potnia. This stunning image was taken by the late, and undoubtedly great, treehopper superfan, Andreas Kay. Too soon he was taken, may Lord Aetalion rest his soul.

Struggling to keep my head above water lately, but that's no excuse to skip #TreehopperTuesday! Today's (N. American) buggo is the Virginia Creeper Treehopper (Telamona ampelopsidis). As their name suggests, they feed on Virginia Creeper, unlike their mostly oak-feeding relatives

Dreaming of nights by the light sheet on this chilly #TreehopperTuesday. I found this cutie while I was peeing on a bush last July in Oaxaca, Mexico. It belongs to the tribe Ceresini, which I struggle to learn, but I believe it belongs to the genus Parantonae.

Y'all know what day it is...today's #TreehopperTuesday highlights 1 of the more "mainstream" #treehopper genera, Cladonota, which presents incredible pronotal shape diversity & comprises 4 subgenera (~56 spp.). This specimen is from Roraima, BR & belongs to subgenus Lobocladisca.

Y'all, I know it's #TreehopperTuesday but this wasp absolutely adorable.
ID'd by the photographer, Carlos De Soto Molinari, as Polycyrtus lituratus (Ichneumonidae). Locality listed as Santo Grial (assuming Dominican Republic?).

Hope everyone is having a terrific #TreehopperTuesday so far. Today's buggo hails from Jamaica & currently goes by the name Marshallella riveroi Ramos. There are 3 species in this genus, 2 from Jamaica & 1 from the Dominican Republic; the Jamaican spp. appear to be misplaced.

It's #TreehopperTuesday! Today I present 4 telamonine treehoppers, 1 of the most diverse lineages of largely oak feeding North American treehoppers.
Telamona projecta (top left)
Telamona nr. reclivata (top right)
Telamona monticola (bottom left)
Heliria cristata (bottom right)

For #TreehopperTuesday, I present Goniolomus tricorniger from Cuba! I've yet to encounter this species alive & I guarantee when that moment comes, my squeals will be heard throughout the Caribbean. #Membracidae

Bipolar depression sucks. When I'm having rough days like today, I look at an album of treehoppers on my phone and try to remind myself that I'm here to tell their story. It doesn't fix anything, but it helps! #TreehopperTuesday coming soon!
Keeping up w/ @onychophora1929's #TreehopperTuesday, I present an undescribed sp. from Puerto Rico. This little weirdo possesses characters diagnostic of 2 Greater Antillean genera...I remain to learn where it best fits (tho I smell synonymy). Hang in there PR #PRfuerte #PRstrong

If not #MembracidMonday, then #TreehopperTuesday. You know you're small when you can hide among leaf trichomes
