Yesterday, I joined Commissioner Chad McIntosh, State Representative Richard Raymond, Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño, local leaders, and partners for the signing ceremony marking a major milestone in the proposed expansion of the World Trade Bridge. I asked Commissioner McIntosh to come to Laredo for this important occasion, and I appreciate him being here to sign this agreement in person with our community. With the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission’s approval of the binational joint review, the project can now move forward toward expanding capacity at one of the nation’s busiest trade crossings. The expansion will help reduce congestion, improve commercial traffic flow, and strengthen the supply chains that support jobs and economic growth across South Texas and the country. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I’ll continue working with our local, state, and federal partners to help move this project forward and ensure Laredo remains a leader in international trade. This is an important step forward for Laredo, South Texas, and the future of U.S.-Mexico trade.
