Angels fascinate and capture the imagination of Christians and non-Christians alike.
The terms used to talk about them can be difficult to understand
What is the difference between an angel and a guardian angel?
The term “angel” comes from the Latin angelus which means “Messenger of God”.
This comes from the Greek ἄγγελος (ángelos), which itself is a translation of the Hebrew mal'akh which means "messenger", "delegate" or "ambassador".
The Catechism of the Catholic Church speaks of it thus (CCC 329):
Saint Augustine says about them: “Angel” designates the function, not the nature.
You ask what this nature is called?
Angel:👉Spirit.
Are you asking for the function? Function: 👉Angel.
👉From what he is, he is a spirit.
👉From what he does, he's an angel.
(Ps. 103, 1, 15).
With all their being, angels are servants and messengers of God.
Because they “constantly behold the face of my Father which is in heaven”
(Mt 18:10),
They are “workers of his word, attentive to the sound of his word”
(Ps 103:20).
The term “angel” therefore simply describes what they do and not what they are.
Despite their large numbers, an order prevails among them.
God, for whom the angelic multitude is a glory, has in fact established an admirable harmony there.
Thus, there are nine choirs of celestial spirits, divided into three hierarchies.
Each of them is subdivided into three distinct orders which each have a specific mission.
The first hierarchy includes seraphim, cherubim and thrones;
The second hierarchy includes dominations, powers and virtues;
The third hierarchy includes superiors, archangels and angels.
It is in this last category that the guardian angels are found.
Their mission is as their name indicates is to guard their ward, defend and protect them.
The guardian angel is the one who must lead to holiness and eternal life the person entrusted to him by God.
He is the “minister of divine concern for each and every one,” said Benedict XVI, both spiritually and materially.
He is both the protector and the teacher, the friend and the guide.

Quelle est la différence entre un ange et un ange gardien ?

Malgré leur grand nombre, un ordre prévaut parmi eux.
Dieu, pour qui la multitude angélique est une gloire, y a en effet établi une admirable harmonie.
Ainsi, il existe neuf chœurs d’esprits célestes, divisés en trois hiérarchies.
Chacune d’elles étant subdivisée en trois ordres distincts qui ont chacun une mission précise.
La première hiérarchie comprend les séraphins, les chérubins et les trônes ;
La deuxième hiérarchie comprend les dominations, les puissances et les vertus ;
La troisième hiérarchie comprend les supérieurs, les archanges et les anges.
C’est dans cette dernière catégorie que se retrouvent les anges gardiens.
Leur mission est comme leur nom indique est de garder sa pupille, de la défendre et de la protéger.
L’ange gardien est celui qui doit conduire à la sainteté et à la vie éternelle la personne qui lui est confiée par Dieu.
Il est le « ministre de la sollicitude divine pour chacune et chacun », disait Benoît XVI, tant spirituellement que matériellement.
Il est la fois le protecteur et le pédagogue, l’ami et le guide.

The angels, spiritual messengers, are mentioned throughout the Scriptures.
But their origin remains mysterious.
While angels are mentioned frequently in the Bible, we don't know much about their origin.
In fact, there is no sentence that says explicitly :
“At this time, the angels were created.”
However, some indications can give us tracks.
The first “angelic creature” to make its appearance in the Bible is Satan .
Called “the serpent” in Genesis, Satan turns out to be a creature spiritual have disobeyed God since the beginning.
The Catechism of the catholic Church tells us that “behind the choice disobedience of our first parents there is a voice seductive, opposed to God, who, through envy, made to fall in death.
Scripture and the Church's Tradition see in this being a fallen angel called Satan or devil.
The Church teaches that it was an angel good, made by God.
The devil and the other demons were indeed created by God naturally good, but it is them who are made poor.”

Les anges, messagers spirituels, sont mentionnés tout au long des Écritures.
Mais leur origine demeure mystérieuse
En effet, il n’y a pas de phrase qui dise explicitement :
“À tel moment, les anges furent créés.”
Cependant, certaines indications peuvent nous donner des pistes.
La première “créature angélique” à faire son apparition dans la Bible est Satan.
Appelé “le serpent” dans la Genèse, Satan s’avère être une créature spirituelle ayant désobéi à Dieu dès le tout début.
Le Catéchisme de l’Église catholique nous dit que “derrière le choix désobéissant de nos premiers parents, il y a une voix séductrice, opposée à Dieu qui, par envie, les fait tomber dans la mort.
L’Écriture et la Tradition de l’Église voient en cet être un ange déchu, appelé Satan ou diable.
L’Église enseigne qu’il a été d’abord un ange bon, fait par Dieu.
Le diable et les autres démons ont certes été créés par Dieu naturellement bons,
Mais c’est eux qui se sont rendus mauvais.”
