Kearney was alleged, on Tuesday, to be using the GiveSendGo platform to violate Massachusetts law by running an illegal lottery, involving direct gambling. The letter to the company, putting the firm on constructive notice as to the conduct, was first published on this feed yesterday afternoon and, within hours, the campaign was suspended. “There is and continues to be an effort for individuals to hold illegal gambling schemes by the parties organizing and participating in a 60-40 split at the following GSG campaign here: [link removed].
“Since individuals organizing and participating in illegal raffles is a violation of Massachusetts General Laws, Section 271, it is my duty to report these violations to you as the organizers and participants are violating Massachusetts state law.
“These are not "donations" listed on this GSG campaign. This is an attempt at a raffle where someone wins a share of the GSG proceeds,” the letter concludes.
