#BREAKING: AFL umpire Leigh Haussen will not umpire in Round 1 of the 2025 season after admitting to dressing as Osama Bin Laden at an umpire's end of season function.
The event was held the day after the AFL Grand Final in a private room at a Melbourne restaurant. The theme for the event was 'characters from the 2000's'.
Haussen changed into the Bin Laden costume at the venue and wore a mask for a short period of time, no skits were performed.
He has issued an apology for his conduct.
โI am sorry. I made an error of judgement. I never intended to offend anyone.โ Haussen said.
