#UREES101 grades are submitted.
Apparently I gave two Super-Secret Code Words this #UREES101 testing cycle. So, I'm giving 1 point of you know one and 2 points of you get them both.
Possum approves.
@Selinashu1 Yes. That is a possibility. On the exam I will want you to explain why you think that. What features of the rock say "beach" to you? Are there any other possible interpretations? What else would you need to know to be absolutely certain?

I have my computer out. Staring at it. Wondering why I'm looking at it.
My knee hurts.
#UREES101 Twitter hours, anyone? Exam tomorrow!
@MyNguye10513337 Barrier islands are natural and form due to beach drift just like spits.
Breakwaters are man-made structures specifically made to block waves from hitting the beach.

@MyNguye10513337 Fundamentally, the difference between continental and alpine glaciers is all about scale. Alpine glaciers are small and generally limited to valleys. Continental glaciers are huge and may be miles thick.

@MyNguye10513337 Generally, eskers, kames, kettles, and drumlins are considered features of continental glaciers, not alpine glaciers.

@MyNguye10513337 Yup. All the important point to explain the Coriolis Effect are there:
Due to rotation of the Earth
Flow veers right in the northern hemisphere
Flow veers left in the southern hemisphere.

So I warned you all in #UREES101 lecture yesterday...
You MUST be able to differentiate between rocks and minerals after taking this course. And there are some questions about it on the exam.
A fair question current #UREES101 students. A, B, and C. Rock or mineral? All three react with acid.
A: Calcite - A single crystal
B: Marble - A chunk of rock composed entirely of small crystals of calcite stuck together
C: Fossiliferous Limestone - Grey rock with fossils in it
Okay absent #UREES101 students can you finish this challenge? Which of these are Rocks and which are minerals?
#UREES101 - Name that sedimentary environment:
Sandstone with highly rounded quartz grains. Does not react with acid.
#UREES101 - Name that sedimentary environment:
Rock composed entirely of the broken up bits of clam, mussel, and oyster shells. Reacts strongly to acid.
#UREES101 - Name that sedimentary environment:
Rock composed entirely of the skeletal remains of single celled organisms, specifically radiolarians. Does not react to acid.
#UREES101 - Name that sedimentary environment:
Conglomerate with well-rounded pebble- to cobble-sized grains that are imbricated (that is in en echelon stacks). Large grains are in a claystone matrix.
@MyNguye10513337 Albedo has an important role in a positive feedback loop that results in greater ACCUMULATION of ice. That is, more snow --> greater albedo --> LESS melting --> more snow --> bigger glaciers.

What will I lecture on tomorrow?
And why is my cat kicking me in the head?

What? Oh? Twitter hours?
Images from this and past years' #UREES101 lectures on ocean currents. Pretty sure this year's is the best ever.
