Our student teacher has steered the student’s learning through the life cycle of an organism which culminated with presentations. The students were great as they learned, and practiced their speaking and listening. #UVEMADE
I loved the determination and focus the students demonstrated yesterday as they continue their learning about personal narratives. Yesterday their learning revolved around goal setting and how to respond when you “run out of gas” as a writer. #UVEMADE

We played 1 of my favorite math games this morning. #GameofConsensus The students would solve a number story as a group, but had to come to consensus b4 they can report their answer. This game creates opportunities for students to discuss their thinking and strategies.#UVEMADE
The last day before spring break also means the first Friday of @MarchMadnessMBB and our class was challenged w/ building a catapult to shoot a basket. The students had their #OneShiningMoment This challenge wasn’t a layup, but the energy was a slam dunk. #UVEMADE @CBSSports

I’m going to let the cat out of the bag as my class stayed as cool as a cucumber during our idiom project. At 1st some felt like a fish out of water, but in the end most said it was easy as pie. One student even said this isn’t her 1st rodeo. Time to call it a day! #UVEMADE
Today, to help extend our thinking & use of fractions of a set, students were given this fun challenge called Making Muffins. To solve this number story, the students had to 1st draw conclusion based on clues W/I the text. My students solved this question…can you? #UVEMADE
In social studies today we continued learning about the culture and life of @colonialwmsburg We virtually visited #RaleighTavern and played The Royall & Most Pleasant Game of the Goose. Students also discussed the differences & similarities of colonial life with today. #UVEMADE
Fairy Tale Smash Up started today! Students in our class selected their two favorite fairy tales, and will smash up the different tales into one story. I cannot wait to read these twisted tales. #UVEMADE
This morning during ELA students read two different versions of a popular #fairytale and then with their partner they compared each version. I observed quality discussions and thinking while identifying various features of a fairy tale. #UVEMADE
This alum of @UV_Elem & @RSMSPrincipal & @RSHSPrincipal visited our class. He makes me proud to be a part of the Rockwood School District, & showed us what it’s like to be a student @AF_Academy He left us with the message to follow your dreams. @RockwoodSupt #UVEMADE
Today we resumed one of my favorite traditions and built gingerbread houses with our kindergarten buddy class. The students laughed, talked, cooperated, and enjoyed each other’s company. #UVEMADE
Today we made observations and analyzed how energy is transferred in collisions. We also performed an experiment that modeled sub-atomic particle collisions in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. #RHIC Thanks @BrookhavenLab #UVEMADE
Today in reading ST’s used the following strategies to help identify the main idea and supporting details in a reading. 1: What is the topic of the reading? 2: What did we learn as we read about the topic? 3: What is the most important thought about the topic? #UVEMADE
In math today ST’s used place value chips and mats as a way to explore how and why division works. ST’s told me that division is actually “repeated subtraction” and “all groupings must be equal.” I can’t wait to see what our class discovers tomorrow. #UVEMADE #Concretlearning
To discover if a # is prime or composite we ventured into our #creationstation room. The St’s selected their own manipulative, & then built arrays to determine if the # is divisible by at least three #’s. Some St’s are starting to notice rules of divisibility. #UVEMADE
