He affirms unconditional election. Not sure if he affirms limited atonement but says that calvinism affirms the Gospel is a genuine and real offer to all.
I find it so interesting that someone can get so caught up in there indoctrinated beliefs they cant see the forest through the trees and the inconsistency in their own doctrine.
How can the offer be legitimate and genuine for all when Christ never died for all? How can it be legitimate and genuine when God chose the majority for eternal damnation before the foundation?
Scott wants to soften the blow by appealing to single predestination which we (including any legitimate calvinist) affirms is a fallacy.
You cannot have two groups of people and only two destinations and say that when you chose one group for destination A that you did not automatically choose the other group for destination B.
If one has 4 kids and they choose to leave their inheritance to 3 can you in any way dsy you did not choose for the 4th not to get any?
If there is a firing squad line of 10 Christians and you are told you can choose to save any and you choose to save 4 can you in any way day you did not choose for the other 6 to die? Scott you can do better than that.
Now as for John 6:37 again Scott doesnt understand the context of John 6 at all or even the whole theme from John 4 to 14 or so. Those given by the Father to the son in some places when specifically referenced are thr apostles and the rest of the places are the OT jews that truly believed and followed the Father.
As for 6:37 please ask Scott if he knows where the fulfillment of this statement/prophecy is. I bet you he doesn't know. He is not reading scripture in context and believing a doctrine via proof texts out of context.
The fulfillment of this tells us who those given are:
Jojn 18:8Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go.” 9This was to fulfill the word that he had spoken: “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.”
Notice how it says this fulfillment is now completed because it was referring to the apostles.
If you're going to debate Calvinism, at least "steelman" it, or present an accurate presentation of it. The video from Dr. Flowers caricatures Calvinism as God arbitrarily creating people for condemnation with no meaningful call to salvation.
God does not condemn innocent people who desperately want Christ but were denied the opportunity. Scripture teaches that all people willingly rebel against God and are already guilty (Rom. 3:10-23). Left to ourselves, none would seek Him. Election means God mercifully chooses to save guilty sinners who deserve judgment, giving them new life and bringing them willingly to Christ (Eph. 1:4-5; 2:1-9). The Gospel is genuinely offered to all, and Calvinists can gladly proclaim: "Whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Everyone who comes to Christ will be received (John 6:37).

If God predestined a certain group of believers to Heaven and the rest to Hell (regardless of their actions), He would be more of a malicious psychopath than the devil himself.
All can be saved, and all can choose to be saved.

Note the twisting of logic and even one's doctrine to try to marry false doctrine to scripture. Here @StevenUllmer says that man in our time now, 6,000 years after the world was created can override God's decision and choice in election that He made before the foundation of the world if they want to.
Notice the fallacy here.....is Steve taking an Arminian position. God's choice in election is done by looking down the corridors of time and see who wants to as opposed to God's unilateral decision based on nothing good or bad in them?
