My 22 yo father’s war was over on #VEDay, my 46 yo grandfather had to wait until #VJDay. Here’s my father’s logbook entry: ARMISTICE WITH GERMANY 8.5.45. My father on the right, my grandfather on the left. WW2 is both a long time ago and really not. For me, a parent’s youth gone, a fighter-pilot flying night after night for years in multiple theatres surviving the Luftwaffe and quite a few V1 bombs. I miss him and I thank him. ❤️
