Animal sacrifice was introduced by #Vedics (aka today's Brahmins) in India even before Christianity and Islam. Animal sacrifice is not the original culture of Bharat!
it reflects influences from outside traditions.
It was practiced openly mainly after the Bhakti movement (post-12th century). Before that, under Jain kings, animal sacrifice was not allowed, so these people practiced sacrifices secretly.
During the Vijayanagara rule, they openly sacrificed many animals-there are records of more than 3,000 animals being sacrificed during Dasara by this pandits.

There was no historical Ved-Vyāsa figure who wrote the Mahābhārata 5,000 years ago. That character is a later construction promoted by #Vedics. The only identifiable Vyāsa is Kumāra-Vyāsa, who composed a Vedic version of the Mahābhārata much later, after the 14-15th CE -and he is the one being projected backward as 'Ved-Vyāsa'.
