Ideas and inspiration come in all forms-- and that includes tweets: WEF's Digital Communication Manager @rahkianance blogs about the recent #wefworkforcechat: https://t.co/0x76lQY5sb
The #WaterIndustry has been around for decades, but it is poised to be "the next big thing". Cities are running out of water, droughts continue, & our population grows. We must develop the water workforce today to be prepared for tomorrow #WEFworkforcechat https://t.co/3IcZXufbtb
@briandeming @jkjhr @mfaulkner43 @dmcgrath @bradgalin @anisharavind @GemmaTothSCP @RogersHRConsult @cescobar78 @_strclaire @steelercrw It's not as common as it should be for companies to focus on the long game, including preparing employees for #leadership roles. But that's truly a way to help capitalize on the human side of work! It sows the seeds for the organization's long-term success! #WEFworkforceChat
@TanyaMcCaretti @MartinPronk @Baywork2 @WEForg 1️⃣ Have a vision - what will org look like in future? Create a plan-it’s a journey not a switch.
2️⃣Use tech to empower people, not replace them! With #CollectiveIntelligence we know that ppl + tech is the best path forward.

@WEForg A1: Recruiting and retaining staff, diversity and inclusion - and sometimes just being exciting enough for candidates to truly believe they can have a profoundly positive impact on the world 🌎 by working in water 💦 #wefworkforcechat
@ifetayovenner @BrizeeWater @WEForg @ChesapeakeWEA Wonderful program! Significant shortage of candidates entering the trades, wondering if agencies have considered partnering with organizations like @ChallengeProInc? They mentor candidates entering the trades? #wefworkforcechat @Arcadis_US annually supports The Challenge Program
@ifetayovenner @BrizeeWater @WEForg @iyaiorg A9 ...wondering if when looking at the list of career opportunities candidates view the opportunities more as technical positions or as opportunities to make a profound impact on improving quality of life for everyone? #WEFworkforcechat
A9 It requires US to BELIEVE what we do is IMPORTANT & share this story. Imagine life without YOU - without the water industry. As a whole, we need to BE PROUD of what we do in order to sell what we do in order to recruit others. #wefworkforcechat https://t.co/rTUyoRFprW
A10 we need to do a better job of talkin, listening, and trusting. No one job title is going to solve the problems this sector is facing so we have to work better with each other respect each other and know we are all in this together #wefworkforcechat
@BrizeeWater @WEForg @iyaiorg A9 I recall many of the InFLOW students also made a similar comment. That they had no clue just how many potential career opportunities there were in water before the program. Something to think about for sure! #WEFworkforcechat
@WEForg A9 We did a fun exercise with the students in the @iyaiorg program where we asked them their interest and explained how it can relate to a career in water. The students were 🤯 when we shared there are over 212 careers in water. #wefworkforcechat
@WEForg A9: can’t expect them to come to you. Esp groups not traditionally part of the workforce. Have to be better at reaching out & communicating about the great opportunities in water, that its a meaningful career, their skills/passion are needed-earlier the better #wefworkforcechat
@jjones4water A2 We’ve sent quite a few folks from @Arcadis_US to the WLI over the years. 2 this year. Fantastic program. Cool to see how far it’s come from the concept when I was on the first steering committee @wefrmk #WEFWorkForceChat
...and that concludes #wefworkforcechat! Time flies when you're having fun, right? Thank you SO much for being a part of the conversation! If you are going to the WEF/AWWA Transformative Issues Symposium on Workforce next week, please stop by and say hi!
@WEForg A10—Repeating the message: the regulatory community must have strong working relationships with those that they regulate. And vice versa. #ItTakesATeam #wefworkforcechat
@WEForg A3: In my org it’s a work in progress & improving. I’m participating in both formal and informal mentoring. Expectations of participants influence the success of the mentoring engagements.Clear objectives, intent and personality alignment make a huge impact
#WEFworkforcechat
Q10: And our final #wefworkforcechat question: How can the sector as a whole work together on workforce development?
