#WHPSClass11 spent the afternoon learning about good old ‘MRS GREN’ - the 7 life processes for all living things. After a singalong to a very catchy song we got to work creating some very informative notes. #WHPSScience
#WHPSClass10 learnt all about pitch in #WHPSScience and created their own pan pipes from biodegradable straws. We discussed what about the different lengths of the straws changed the pitch of the sound heard when it was blown in to.
#WestHeathClass10 enjoyed starting their new science topic of sound by investigating different ways of making sound. We discussed how sound is caused by vibrations which cause sound waves!

#whpsclass5 investigsted the relationship between size and speed. Does bigger always mean faster? #whpsscience
#WHPSClass11 #WHPSScience We completed our forces topic today by looking at a range of mechanisms including gears, pulleys and levers (as seen in the photos). We learnt that the same amount of force has a greater output the further it is from the pivot point.

#WHPSClass9 had a great VR workshop last week. We discussed our knowledge about climate change and looked at the effects it is having on our world. The children loved it! #WHPSScience #WHPSComputing
#WHPSScience #WHPSClass11 We have been learning about air resistance as a force counteracting gravity, so we made parachutes to see who could slow their landing the most. We thought about weight and maximising surface area. They did really well.

#WHPSScience #WHPSClass11 We conducted an experiment to see which objects fall quicker than others to learn about forces. We learnt that although gravity pulls things down, resistance is a force acting against it. The object’s mass and surface area affect how fast it falls.
Today in science we made a flip wheel all about how human choices affect the environment. We looked at pollution, deforestation, climate change and over hunting. #WHPSClass9 #WHPSScience
#WHPSClass7 learnt about muscles this afternoon! We used key vocabulary such as Bicep, Tricep, contract and relax to explain our muscle models.

#WHPSClass9 have been using classification keys in science to identify different animals based on their charcteristics! The children did really well and showed fanastic collaboration! #WHPSScience
#WHPSClass12 are scientists! Today we learnt the terms solvent, solute and solution. We mixed and observed different solutions to explain what we could see happening. We also discussed saturation and factors affecting dissolving. #WHPSScience
Year 1 have turned into Scientists today to explore animal poo samples! They had to decide whether the animal is a carnivore🥩, a herbivore🍇 or an omnivore🥓🍃 based on their diets👩🏼🔬🧑🏽🔬 #whpsscience #science #animals
