Funds holding a net #grains short for the first time since Aug 2020 bought back 35k of the 338k they sold during the previous two weeks. A 16% rally flipped the KCB #wheat back to a long while supporting shortcovering in #W_f and #corn. Selling of soybeans partly offset by demand for oil

CBOT #wheat traders have gone looking for shorts to squeeze after selling ran out of steam ahead of $6/bu, a two-year low. Despite being up around 5% it has not yet reached a one-week high with plenty of work needed to stop the rout #W_F

All six #grains and #soybeans contracts saw net selling in the wk to April 25, leaving the total long reduced to just 33k and weakest since Aug 2020. #S_f: -47.6k to 87.2k, #C_f: -64.7k to -15.3k, #W_f: -10k to -113k, fresh 5-yr high.

On Friday, the #USDA published its Quarterly Stocks and #wheat production reports. #Corn stocks was lower and #soybeans larger. December #wheat jumped 2.8% with stocks in line but production in all categories falling short of expectations #W_f.
