October is LGBTQ+ history month, a chance for us to celebrate the brave folks who have stood up and fought for equal rights, protections and acceptance for our community. We’ve come a long way in this fight, but there’s still more work to do. Together, we’ll keep working toward a future where every Minnesotan can be who they are and love who they love. 🌈🩷

If you talk to MN teenagers they will tell you that they are fine with anyone being in the schools. MN is not racist, especially the younger generation. But they are disturbed that the Somali students are allowed to do almost anything with no punishments. Other students are disciplined, punished, expelled and yet nothing happens to the Somali students. They get treated as a special class and they now know this and take advantage of it. Our teachers, administrators, police, judges, government officials, and also Somali leaders are allowing Somalis to not assimilate and to abuse the system and their neighbors. This will lead to the destruction of our communities, and I believe we need to clearly name the problem because it’s not wide spread throughout, it’s a clearly defined group. Once we name it and admit it, then ALL of us can work to fix the problem with our new neighbors and get a community where all can thrive.

Thank you to the Economic Club of Minnesota for hosting me today to discuss a growth agenda for our state. Minnesota is a state of innovators and we need a government that matches Minnesotans’ drive and ambition. That’s the growth agenda I’ll deliver as Governor. Faster. Better. Bring in and expand businesses and good paying jobs.

UPDATE: Police have confirmed that they believe the shooting at Eden Prairie's homecoming game was gang related. Additionally, amid reports that the shooting involved Somali gangs, Eden Prairie Superintendent Josh Swanson released a statement condemning "hateful messages spread online about entire communities" and declaring that "our diversity is one of our greatest strengths."

Reports confirm shots were fired tonight near the Speedway at Hwy 5 and Eden Prairie Road. Police responded with a large presence and crime scene tape. No victims reported so far, per law enforcement sources. This follows the Friday Oct. 2 gang-related shooting outside the high school that injured two St. Paul teens.
