Embakasi East MP Babu Owino releases a county document showing the collapsed building in Eastleigh, Nairobi was formally approved on February 13, 2024, directly contradicting Governor Johnson Sakaja's claim that the architectural plans were never approved. Babu has also exposed Sakaja for pocketing a Ksh 120 million bribe to fast-track the approval of the building's construction plans, demanding the Governor take full responsibility for the tragedy as rescue teams continue to search for those still trapped beneath the rubble. “Sakaja lied to Kenyans that the building that collapsed in Eastleigh had no approval, yet he approved the construction. I have posted the approval that was done on 13th February, 2024. This is a big joke from the incompetent Sakaja. He must take responsibility for this tragedy after collecting a bribe of Ksh 120 million,” he wrote in a social media post on Sunday.
