The #GFS just got some new supercharged ponies under the hood today. It has 2X the vertical resolution and forecasts now go out 16 days (versus 10 days). It accurately called #HurricaneDorian's turn from FL in 2019. #hurricane #hurricaneseason #wavewatchIII
The upgraded GFS model now has double the vertical resolution and for the first time is coupled with a global wave model to extend wave forecasts out from 10 to 16 days. We put more horsepower in the #GFS engine.
