Modernization of Uzhhorod–Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint
The Uzhhorod–Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint on the 🇸🇰-🇺🇦 border has been fully repaired and reopened, thanks to @USAID support.
Modernization included the installation of modular buildings for offices and toilets, traffic management facilities, road signs, barrier fencing, cargo scales, LED lighting, and road surface repairs.
Now, the Uzhhorod–Vyšné Nemecké checkpoint can handle more traffic, increasing its capacity from 630 to 900 vehicles per day. The upgrade also includes additional offices for passport and customs clearance and a new waiting area for vehicles before crossing into Slovakia. Passenger car traffic, suspended during the works, has already resumed.
Similar upgrades were recently completed at the Yagodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint on the 🇺🇦-🇵🇱 border. Grateful to our partners for their ongoing support.

The "Reni - Giurgiulesti" checkpoint now features joint customs and border control, boosting capacity from 150 to 350 trucks daily. Next task: coordinated control with Romania for faster access to the port of Galati #WeBuildUkraine
🇺🇦🇲🇩 Joint customs and border control launched at "Reni - Giurgiulesti" Checkpoint
This is a key checkpoint in Ukraine's southern region, handling around 150 trucks daily from/to Moldova. We have renovated it for the first time since it became operational.
With the new joint control, the checkpoint's capacity will increase to 350 trucks per day in both directions. This also includes buses, making border crossing faster and more comfortable for passengers.
Next steps include coordinated control with Romanian and Moldovan counterparts, opening a swift corridor to the Romanian port of Galati.
Context
Almost a year ago, the government assigned 29 checkpoints to the Agency for Restoration. Most of these checkpoints are undergoing renovation to ensure seamless export of goods and convenient import of humanitarian and military cargo.
Despite the challenges of the ongoing war, we continue to strategically expand our logistical infrastructure capacity, ensuring the efficiency of shipments and the economic resilience of our country.
Thanks to everyone involved in this project.

Grateful to @WorldBank, @UNOPS_Ukraine, CDF & the Howard Buffett Foundation for their firm support in the RELINC project. With 18 modular bridges from Acrow Corp., Ukraine advances logistics amid challenges. Thanks to all partners for making🇺🇦 more resilient! #WeBuildUkraine
Ukraine will receive 18 modular bridges as part of the RELINC project – Restoration of Critical Logistical Infrastructure and Network Connectivity initiative. Modular bridge kits are produced by Acrow Corporation of America, USA. The first batch – 12 bridges worth $15.4 million – is already in Ukraine, and the remainder will arrive by the end of March.
These bridges are a vital logistics component. They will be used to restore transportation links damaged by war and to facilitate the logistics of goods and cargo, and meet other critical state needs.
The RELINC project is a collaborative effort between Ukraine and the @WorldBank, with the @UNOPS_Ukraine handling the procurement and delivery of the bridge systems. The total contract value is $23.3 million.
Ukraine has experience with modular bridges, having received 6 from Sweden, 18 from the Czech Republic, and 10 from Norway since December 2022. France has donated 3 temporary bridges, each designed for a specific purpose and location. Finland is preparing an aid package that will include temporary modular bridges. In June 2023, Ukraine received its first modular bridges from American funds: the non-profit Conflict and Development Foundation (CDF) and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, which financed the supply of 9 modular bridges to Ukraine.
We thank our partners for support.
