We were at #WebXFintechEXPO in Osaka & @WebX_Asia in Tokyo last week.
Great events and panels with industry leaders, that gathered TradFi and DeFi, and talks about how finance would look on-chain.

Last week, we were in Japan for two main events:
👉 #WebXFintechEXPO: fintech builders pushing Web3 into real use.
👉 @WebX_Asia: gathering some of the greatest minds of Web3 with very interesting panels.

At Osaka #webxfintechexpo, Japan showed it’s serious about Web3 finance—licenses, infra, and capital are all on the table—but the rollout will be “Japanese style”: slow, compliance-first, B2B before B2C.
Regulated yen stablecoins and tokenized deposits set the stage for programmable money in settlement; ODX and Nomura’s ibet for Fin are building secondary markets for STs, but liquidity is still thin; Sony, Docomo, and SBI are pushing infra, yet real DAU and distribution remain the bottleneck.
The real tests will be settlement volume, ST liquidity, and app retention—if they don’t scale, it’s bubble; if they do, it’s slow-burn infra. Japan won’t “blow up the old system,” it will upgrade it—less flashy, but more likely to make money.
