Ancient House has been a museum since 1924. This press cutting from 1924 shows Prince Frederick Duleep Singh (2nd on the right) at the opening.
Before moving in 2013 to our current site in Prendergast, we were previously located in Haverfordwest Castle. Here are plans for extensions to the Record Office at the castle in the 1970s.

As a volunteer, our librarian indexed the North Devon Journal for 1893, this led to a part time job with us and @DevonHeritageShe now looks after all the Athenaeum’s collections.

Today’s #Archive30 theme is #WhereYouStarted and it all started in 1641. Our founders, George and Thomas Hutcheson, left provision for a hospital and school. Thomas held the office for the Register of Sasines in Glasgow so would have know all about the management of records!

Margaret started as part-time Searchroom Assistant at RBA in 2012. In 2016 she became a full-time Archives Assistant. She completed her MA in Archive Administration at Aberystwyth and became Records Manager at Records Management Unit in 2022/3 #Archive30 #WhereYouStarted @ARAScot

Today's #Archive30 theme is #WhereYouStarted. Before we set up our archive, the manuscript papers read at meetings were a core collection in our library. Here is our library in our previous building in 1896 and in our current building in the 1938 and 1950s.
